Recently we attended the Group Leisure & Travel Show 2016 at the NEC Birmingham. This is one of the year’s must-go events because it brings together all the major players from the UK’s domestic tourism market – which makes up a whopping £100+ billion industry! Over 2,000 people were estimated to have been at the Group Leisure & Travel Show on 20 October.

Manning our eye-catching stand right in the heart of the action were Groups Marketing Manager Iain Inch, Groups Accounts Manager Adam Barr (present for his ninth straight year) and colleagues from the Groups Sales team including Jason Kaldis and David Kay.

Indeed the best of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales were on display at the trade event. It was a pleasure to meet with representatives from more than 200 leading visitor attractions, venues, destinations, hotels, transport providers, associations, tour operators and marketing organisations located throughout Britain and the Emerald Isle.

There was a lot of interest from attendees about Ticketmaster Groups and we were excited to promote our great range of events – from the best theatre productions, musicals and family-friendly favourites like Disney on Ice: Frozen to popular seasonal shows and a variety of ice rinks.

The Group Leisure Awards 2016 were held the evening before the Group Leisure & Travel Show. We were finalists for the Best Ticketing Agency, and although we didn’t win we had a wonderful time at the ceremony.

Throughout both events, we spoke with many different people – ranging from those who hold accounts with Ticketmaster Groups and those who only book through us occasionally, to those who didn’t realise the wide variety of the events we have on offer. So we can say without a doubt that this event was well worth attending. Plenty of promising leads were generated and we look forward to coming back in 2017.

But until then, we’ve got another exhibition to visit early in 2017. The next show we’ll be attending is the British Tourism & Travel Show scheduled for 16-17 March at the NEC Birmingham. If you’re there, we hope you’ll drop by and say hello!
