Wide Days is Scotland’s annual music business convention hosted in Edinburgh. Launched in 2010 it has gone from strength to strength attracting key music industry players from the UK and beyond.

This year I was kindly invited to participate on a panel introducing ticketing and how platforms like TicketWeb’s very own Backline can assist emerging promoters, artists, managers and venues in selling tickets for their own events.

Ticketing plays a pivotal role in the success of events and as such we are trusted by our clients to deliver a seamless ticket buying experience for their customers.

Setting up tickets to sell for events on Backline is really simple and can be done on desktop or via our On Sale app. Just pop in your event date, door times, on sale and off sale times alongside your ticket prices and within five minutes your event is ready to sell on your website, social networks and ticketweb.co.uk.

Customers who buy your events can opt to get their tickets by post (for your old school fans who still like a physical ticket) or at the box office… or, as we see more often, by printing them at home or choosing mobile tickets which allows event organisers to scan them via our Check In app.

We also see ticketing and marketing being integral to each other and as such provide event organisers with a Client Marketing Manager to promote events through our marketing channels and ensure your events are reaching the widest possible customer base. We produce a weekly TicketAlert covering music, clubs, comedy, theatre and arts that reaches over 1 million customers throughout the UK alongside our social network channels which harness over 50,000 fans with updates on events. Our TicketWeb blog is full of interesting editorial about events, venues and cities we work in giving customers a unique insight, and we also have third-party affiliate partnerships with websites such as The Skinny, The List, Ents24 and DIY that promote events to their customer base. Plus, we actively encourage our event organisers to talk to us about their events so we can work in partnership to promote them.

We never sit on our laurels – we are constantly talking to our clients and listening to what they need in order to develop our platform to meet the needs of both them and their customers. As such we are able to provide event organisers with fully branded websites as well as widgets to allow customers to purchase tickets directly on their website or social network platforms, making the customer journey quicker and easier.

In addition, Backline has a “build it once” tool meaning you only have to click a box and your events are automatically created on your social networks and ticketmaster.co.uk.

If you are an artist we have a dedicated Artist Services department which works with musicians to promote your music and events directly to your fans.

So if you are new to event ticketing it may seem a little daunting, but by partnering with TicketWeb we not only can help event organisers develop their ticketing and marketing strategy, but also make selling tickets as easy as possible by allowing you to focus on other important things – like sorting the band’s rider!
