It started as a longshot idea over 12 months ago, however it soon gained support and momentum... and then Angels to Manchester was born.

The original number of 21 riders was reduced, due to various reasons, but the intrepid 16 left the Angel office on Thursday morning at around 07:30.

There has been lots of laughs and smiles along the way, even more aching limbs, countless unrepeatable words, numerous beers and other alcoholic fuel intakes (not whilst cycling); all in all it was worth every second of the journey.

You can follow the journey on the Facebook page Facebook page and view some photographs on Instagram

Special shoutouts to the support crew of Vicky Hargreaves, Declan Baker and Simon Deaville! You guys made it so much easier, and we wouldn’t have completed this without your help.

An additional shoutout to Helen Clarke, as she was in at the beginning in making Gary carry the thought through.

We have just seen the donations reach over £6,000, which has smashed anything we dreamed of – we thank you!

And the barmy army: Gary Hockenhull, Lee Tutill, Dave Hulse, Anthony Hughes, Rob Holland, Jim Dean, Elise McCloy, Lisa Cobham, Richard Stanway, Sean McGuire, Pete Levy, Craig Brady, Michael Firth, Tim Foulds, Gavin Meadows and Rob Holmes.

It’s not too late to donate here; every penny makes a difference!
