As the original innovators in the field of ticketing and the first company to ever sell tickets online, we decided to hold an internal international Hackathon to foster creativity, teamwork and out-think the swarm of ticketing start-ups that are crowding the industry.

With over 150 participants, we had teams forming across the globe including Quebec, Barcelona, Athens, Gothenburg, Belgrade, Stoke and London attempting to improve the ticketing experience for fans and clients using innovative approaches and new technology.

Competition was strong, spurred on by the enticing top prize of a Sonos Play1 system. This raised the stakes of the demo session and transformed how the pitches were delivered to our panel of judges, which included; Ticketmaster International President, Mark Yovich,  SVP of Product, Troy Suda and SVP of Marketing and Insight, Sophie Crosby.

The winner of the Hackathon was Team Pottermus – Nick Green (London), David Nicoll (Stoke), Phil Butler (Stoke), Deborah Beesley (Stoke) and Evert Pieterse (Stoke) who developed a Visualising Security Data model.

Thank you and well done to all the teams for some amazingly creative ideas. We plan to hold another Hackathon in the new year in Europe so hang tight for that announcement!
