Well, now it’s a reality thanks to the launch of Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan. Using the new service, powered exclusively by Ticketmaster, artists can ensure that tickets get into the hands of real fans, putting their audience first and delivering the very best customer experience.

As well as rewarding your fans, Verified Fan uses algorithms and unique data analysis to identify and remove anyone using unfair tactics to access tickets at the point of on sale, managing the flow of tickets onto resale sites.

Verified Fan launched with a bang in North America earlier this year, with major touring artists Ed Sheeran, Muse and Twenty One Pilots utilizing the new technology to significant effect. When Ed Sheeran launched his US campaign, tech website Recode spoke to Ticketmaster’s David Marcus and Live Nation Entertainment CEO Michael Rapino about Verified Fan and other strategies for managing resale of concert tickets, read it here

Twenty One Pilots went the extra mile with this tour video which outlined their Verified Fan campaign. Watch it below:

The process for fans is a simple series of steps:

1. Register contact details for the tour before the communicated deadline.

2. Ticketmaster analyses and refines the data. Real fans are subsequently contacted with a unique code for the tour ahead of on sale, giving them a chance to access presale tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis.

3. Fans access tickets using the code and make their ticket purchase. The code then expires and cannot be reused.
