Music Venue Trust, the charity created to protect, preserve and improve the nation’s Grassroots Music Venues, has created a series of events for 2018. To build towards the annual national networking event Venues Day, which takes place in London in October, during May and June venue representatives will have the chance to attend seven meetings spread across the country. Designed to be on major travel routes to increase the chances of getting to one of them, the events cover Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England.

In January 2015 MVT created the Music Venues Alliance, a free-to-join, informal association of Grassroots Music Venues (GMVs). MVA members benefit from being part of a national network of venues across the whole of the UK and have access to offers, advice and information. The MVA has grown to 400 members, and so represents a significant proportion of the UK’s GMVs, with whom MVT consult regularly to enable them to speak with authority on behalf of the sector.

Beverley Whitrick, Strategic Director of Music Venue Trust said, “Opportunities to bring venue reps together are incredibly important to share positive news and discuss challenges and how they can be tackled. All our work is informed by discussion with members of the MVA and not everyone can make it to London for Venues Day. We are particularly excited to be holding our first Scottish Venues Meeting and returning to Wales and Northern Ireland this spring.”

The 2018 events mark the fifth Venues Day and a continued commitment from TicketWeb as long-term supporters of Music Venue Trust’s work. Not only have TicketWeb confirmed Headline Sponsorship duties again for Venues Day 2018, but they are also major partners in two of the seven spring meetings. As creators of the bespoke ticketing platform for GMVs TicketWeb Backline, in partnership with MVT, representatives from TicketWeb will attend all the events to explain the ticketing package and how it benefits customers, venues and MVT itself.

Andrew Parsons, Managing Director of Ticketmaster and TicketWeb, said, “It is imperative that grassroots music venues thrive in big cities and regional areas across the UK, for artists and fans alike. This is why TicketWeb is proud to be the major partner for the 2018 MVT events in Manchester and Glasgow, bringing together the local experts for these important venues to share their needs and concerns with one another. These meetings will culminate in Venues Day, of which we are proud to be headline sponsor third year running. Bringing this community together in the one room ensures the best fight for the future of the grassroots industry. Ticketmaster and TicketWeb’s partnership with MVT over the years has allowed us to help protect and progress the interests of grassroots music venues across the UK, and we are proud to continue this mission together.”
