I recently had the pleasure of attending the annual Woman of Influence Awards at Glasgow’s Central Hotel which recognises the remarkable achievements of some truly special Scottish women. The event is hosted by Children in Action who seek to raise money to continue to help and support children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The Woman of Influence Awards has been running for over 17 years and exists to encourage, support and recognise influential women in Scotland from a variety of backgrounds including; media, sport, entertainment, business, politics, public service and the community at large. There are four women shortlisted for the coveted Woman of Influence Award whose backgrounds range from business to technology and was subsequently won by Margaret Gibson OBE, who was recognised for spending more than 20 years mentoring young people and many entrepreneurs as well as through her work with Women’s Enterprise Scotland which supports female business owners.

Traditionally the music industry has appeared to be male dominant, however we have always had a host of strong and capable women such as our own Sam Isles, Kelly Chappel, Anna-Sophie Mertens and Selina Emeny lead the way when it comes to supporting women. As well as this, our own WE Nation initiative is our internal community which is designed to engage and inspire women across Live Nation to support women in the workplace to attain fulfilling careers and address the issues affecting women today.
